Approved Project

The project was discussed in UTTIPEC Working Group-II-B meeting under the Chairmanship of Secretary, PWD on 03.05.2017.  The observations & recommendations of Working Group-II-B meeting are as follows:

Observations:

Representative of Traffic Police (Eastern Range) suggested that proposed 'four lane- dual carriageway' will not be able to cater the load of the proposed traffic volume on Marginal Bund road from Shastri Park to Khajuri Khas intersection. Traffic Police suggested to widen the corridor to 'five lane-  dual carriageway' between Shastri Park intersection to Khajuri Khas intersection.  Representative of UTTIPEC mentioned that presently the stretch from Khajuri Khas intersection to Sabhapur Border is of 'three lane- dual carriageway', therefore, the narrowing of the corridor from five lane to three lane may create bottleneck leading to traffic congestion from proposed Khajuri Khas intersection to Sabhapur Border.

Working Group noted that the stretch in question is connecting two major arterial roads and hence PWD should work out the feasibility of widening the stretch to 'five lane-dual carriageway' (from Shastri Park to Khajuri Khas intersection) and re-submit the modified drawings to UTTIPEC for uploading on website.  Further, the feasibility of hump subway may be worked out by PWD, GNCTD near the bus stops for the safe pedestrian movement. Pedestrian signal to be installed wherever the hump subways are not feasible.

PWD, GNCTD to take all required statuary clearances from land owning agencies, Yamuna Standing Committee and other statutory bodies.

Recommendation:
Based on the above observations, Working Group recommended the Option-2 for uploading on UTTIPEC website for Community feedback and accordingly for the consideration and approval of Governing Body.  The PWD will submit modifications in the light of observations para (ii) above within a weak.  If no such modifications are received, uploading will be done as it is, without further loss of time and it will be assumed that PWD has nothing to add.

54^th Governing body meeting held on 22.06.2017:

Observations:

Governing body observed that 60m Right of Way (ROW) of Marginal Bund road to be demarcated and if vacant stretch is available along the corridor within the ROW, the same may be developed as green. PWD, GNCTD in consultation with Landscape Department, DDA and other stakeholders to work out the proposal.

Decision:

Based on the above observations, Governing Body directed PWD to review the proposal of widening of Marginal Bund Road. However, the proposal of vehicular underpass at Khajuri Khas intersection was approved.
